WAVE 3- Explination Flaws

On WAVE 3's website, there is an article about a shooting that occurred on Lakeview Drive, where a forty year old man was shot and killed. The story is only 80 words, and basically the article states that the family is sad for their loss, the man’s name was Kevin Deramus and he was found outside an apartment this morning. This news story is flawed because there is no explanation. For a story to be explained properly, the story needs to include big picture reporting and the news organization needs to open their eyes to a broader topic, not just that someone died this morning in a shooting. Also, this story has no newsworthiness at all, the story does not affect a broad audience and it does not have a lasting effect on the people in this community.
